This was contained in a letter of nomination signed by the president of the National Ethics and Values Awards (NEVA), Amb. Dele Moses, dated 9 October, 2024.
The nomination of the Ibadan, Oyo State-based owner of Tunde Odunlade Arts and Culture Connexions was in recognition of his exemplary contributions to the promotion of arts and culture.
The NEVA president stated in the letter to Odunlade: “It is with great honour and excitement that we write to inform you of your selection for the “Art and Cultural Heritage Preservation Champion Award” at the prestigious National Ethics and Values Awards (NEVA).
“Your exemplary work in promoting art, cultural values and the rich heritage of Nigeria has been recognised by key stakeholders in the ethics and cultural community of our country.
“As a curator and an influential figure in the art and cultural scene, your tireless dedication to preserving and celebrating our nation’s cultural heritage through various mediums has greatly impacted both local and international audiences.
“The profound influence of your work aligns with the core values that NEVA seeks to promote, including integrity, ethical leadership and the preservation of national identity through culture.
“Your nomination is a testament to your leadership in the arts and culture sector, which is vital to shaping our collective national identity.”
“Chief Tunde Odunlade, you have been selected for this award, based on your remarkable contributions to the Nigerian cultural sector and your commitment to preserving the integrity and values inherent in our rich artistic heritage.”
The NEVA President listed the factors considered for his nomination to include artistic leadership, cultural preservation, high ethical values and consistent community engagement.
He noted that all the factors have made Prince Odunlade a cultural icon who has inspired countless young artists and cultural practitioners to embrace their heritage and take pride in their cultural identities.
The NEVA President further stated that Odunlade would be formally invited to the awards ceremony where “you will be celebrated for your invaluable contributions to art and cultural preservation.
“The event will feature distinguished guests from various sectors, including government officials, cultural leaders and prominent business figures, who share your passion for preserving Nigeria’s cultural legacy.”
As contained in the letter, the event, with the theme “Upholding Integrity: Celebrating Champions of Ethical Leadership and Values”, will hold at Rockview Hotel Royale, Abuja, on 29 November, 2024.
Some of the expected dignitaries include Vice President Kashim Shettima, GCON, Special Guest of Honour), First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu (Mother of the Day), a former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (Father of the Day).
Also expected are the Minister of State (FCT), Dr. Mahmoud Mariya and Chairman, The Kukah Centre, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah (Keynote Speaker), among other distinguished public figures.
The National Ethics and Values Awards (NEVA) is a national platform that annually celebrates individuals and organisations that exemplified outstanding ethical leadership, integrity and values-based contributions to Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
NEVA is organised in collaboration with the National Orientation Agency (NOA), the Office of the Minister of State, FCT and with the active support of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development.
