Even though Judas was one of Jesus’ disciples, a close examination of his life reveals that he was not an honest man from the start. When Mary anointed Jesus with a costly ointment in John 12:5-6, Judas took offense. He wondered why such a costly ointment was squandered on Jesus when it could have been sold and the proceeds provided to the poor. According to Scripture, Judas made the remark not because he cared about the needy, but because he was a thief who robbed some of the money entrusted to him. To put it another way, the money should have gone to him instead. Despite this, Jesus allowed himself to remain in charge of the ministry’s finances.
Judas was one of Jesus’ disciples who was sent out to preach the Gospel. They can also cure the sick, cast out devils, and even raise the dead while they’re at it. Even if a Christian minister is living in sin, God allows them to continue ministering and even perform amazing miracles by giving them ample time to repent. God is patient and does not punish people right away when they sin, giving them a false sense of protection. Since the sentence for an evil act does not come quickly, Ecclesiastes 8:11 states that men’s hearts are entirely set to do evil.
Are you more interested in working for God or obeying Him by living a righteous life as a Christian? Are you desirous of God not only forgiving you but also for giving you victory over certain sins when you know you’re struggling with them? Judas Iscariot must have been aware that he was a greedy man who would do anything for money, but he chose to ignore it. After all, what could be better than serving alongside Jesus? It was inevitable that someone close to Jesus would betray Him, but it didn’t have to be Judas. Satan is still on the lookout for people to trick, and Judas was an easy target.
Judas went to the High Priest to inform them of his willingness to betray Jesus, according to Mark 14:10-11. They expressed their gratitude by agreeing to give him money. It’s worth noting that Judas was the one who went to the High Priest and his associates; they never came to Judas. So he was the one who did it. According to Scripture, Judas started looking for a way to deceive Jesus from that point forward. We can see from this that Judas’ decision to betray Jesus in Gethsemane was not made on the spur of the moment. He’d been preparing it for a long time before the right moment presented itself. Satan had completely taken control of him at this stage, and there was no turning back. No one knows all men better than Jesus, who called Judas a Son of Perdition. He was well aware that Judas was beyond salvation. His nature was Satan’s nature, and we all speak and act from the abundance of our souls. Jesus recognizes those who really love Him and is always able to assist them in getting back on their feet. It was for Peter’s sake that he did it.
However, Jesus causes people like Judas, who pursue Him for personal benefit when plotting evil, to bear the full brunt of their deeds. It’s worth noting that, on His last night on earth, Jesus did not pray for His followers in the Upper Room with Judas present. After Judas had gone out to betray Him, Jesus started to pray for them as well as all those who had come to Him in the ages. God claims to discipline those He loves. As David said in Psalm 139:23, “Search my heart , Lord, and know my thoughts,” ask God to show you your weaknesses. Try me out and get to know my ways. Even if you have evil in your bones, don’t get obsessed with working for God. May He reveal your true self to you and grant you the grace to live to serve Him, so that your service to Him will be acknowledged.
