This meeting hosted by the NBC, discussed key regulatory issues in the broadcast industry in the west Africa with participants from across the Region.
Welcoming the Heads of the Broadcast Regulatory authorities in West Africa region, the Director General, NBC, Mr. Charles Ebuebu, noted that it was a great pleasure and immense pride to welcome the broadcast regulatory heads on behalf of the Hon. Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mall. Mohammed Idris and the Management of the Commission, to Lagos State, Nigeria.
He added that the round table meeting was to discuss the possibility of the formation of the West Africa Broadcast Regulatory Authorities Network, set an ambitious agenda that is not only pivotal but also timely.
Keying in on the theme of the meeting, the Director General pointed out that it underscores the importance of cooperation and coordination among the broadcast regulators in the region. He added, that the NBC believes that working together can collectively address the challenges and opportunities of the evolving media landscape.
Mr. Ebuebu further noted that by fostering cooperation and information exchange, we aim to keep pace with the dynamic challenges and harness the numerous opportunities of the media Industry, as well as, create a level playing field for all stakeholders in the broadcasting sector.
The NBC boss, in conclusion noted that this collaboration will also help in addressing transnational issues and harmonise our policies in areas such as content regulation, licensing and spectrum management.
