ASUU DECRIES TINUBU’S CURRENT ROLE

Emmanuel Osodeke, President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has revealed President Bola Tinubu’s role in the Union’s walkout in a recent interview.

Osodeke recalled that while President Bola Tinubu was still a private citizen, he informally intervened to express his concern for the country’s educational system.

He further disclosed that ASUU has formally asked Tinubu to meet in order to give a paper that aims to realign Nigeria’s economic and educational system, in addition to discussing Unions issues. However, they didn’t hear back from the Presidency.

He said, “We must tell the Nigerian public that the current President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, wa one of those who intervened when we were on strike informally. And when we came to him, we also wrote him to request a meeting, not just to discuss our issues but for the academia, the brain of the country.”

“We set up a panel to also give him a document that we believe will assist him in repositioning the Nigeria education system and the economy, but we didn’t get a reply.” He added.
