REMI TINUBU DONATES #1BILLION TO OAU

The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Remi Tinubu, on Thursday donated N1 billion to her Alma Mater, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun state, for renovation of some infrastructures.

She recalled the beautiful environment of the university before her graduation 39 years ago and lamented that the decay of infrastructure she witnessed was disheartening.

She said Ife is crying out for help, and called on alumni of the university, formerly University of Ife, to come together and do something for the university.

She advised the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, to monitor the spending of the money she donated.

In her address during the commissioning of 2.7km Senator Oluremi Tinubu Road and the unveiling of pavilion at OAU, named after her by the Ooni, the first lady promised to contribute more to the university through the Renewed Hope Initiative.

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Ogunwusi, while speaking, stated that the contributions of the first lady to societal development necessitated the naming of the road and pavilion after her.

“In recognition of her contributions, a golden statue is erected to immortalise her virtuous person and to showcase the strength of a teacher, a mother and wife in her at the very heart of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. Furthermore, built, is a state of the art hostel whose dynamic pavilion reflects her progressive nature,” he said.
