He said, “Well, it might not be Wasiu Ayinde’s turn, but he’ll be the most favor and it will cause problems.”
According to him, any attempt by the government to influence the process could create unnecessary trouble. “If government pushes it, says it’s Wasiu, and they don’t give it to the right family, wahala will come o, and it will even cause several crisis, several problems,” Ayodele stated.
The cleric expressed concern that the issue of succession could be politicized instead of being handled with spiritual guidance. He urged leaders and traditional authorities to be careful in managing the transition to avoid conflicts that could spread across the state.
“Don’t let this next king in Awujale, don’t let it cause crisis in Ijebu Ode or Ogun State,” he warned. “Don’t make it political, make it more spiritual than political.”
Ayodele’s caution comes amid growing discussions about the next Awujale and who might succeed the throne. He emphasized that peace and tradition should guide the process to prevent disputes among royal families and the wider community.
The prophet maintained that handling the matter spiritually and with fairness would help avert crisis and protect the unity of Ijebu people. According to him, this is why leaders must seek divine direction rather than political influence. He further stressed that a peaceful transition would honor both tradition and God’s will, ensuring that the chosen ruler becomes a blessing to the people rather than a source of conflict.
