IYA RAINBOW: MY TRAVAILS, MY LIFE

Veteran actress, Idowu Philips, popularly known as Iya Rainbow, has opened up on how the fear of her inability to cater for five children after her husband’s death pushed her to ask that they be buried alongside their father.

The veteran actress made this known during an interview with BBC Yoruba, where she disclosed that people started to disrespect her and call her ‘Idowu’ due to her husband’s death.

She said she suffered to train her five children, adding that nobody hustled more than her.

‘For me to cater to five children with no husband and they went to school, graduate, you should know that it is not easy,’ she said.

Narrating how her husband died, the 80-year-old stated that he was sick for two years before he later died in 1984.

She said her children were still very young at the time and that was when her problem started.

Iya Rainbow added that when they brought the children to her, she asked that they buried the children alongside her late husband.

She said: ”When they brought the children, i said they should not worry, i then asked them to put all the children inside the grave and bury all of them together.”

The veteran actress further revealed that some people who previously called her madam began to call her ‘Idowu come here’

She said this was the people her late husband use to feed before his death.

She noted that she stopped working with some people in the Nigerian movie industry because of the insults.
