TOLA ADENIYI’S LOVE FOR FOUNTAIN PEN By Adeyinka Adeyefa

It was pure pleasure and privilege to join the world to celebrate High Chief Tola Adeniyì at the unveiling of his Autobiography “Chapters of Destiny” and this is what I had to say:

“The Irumole and His Fountain Pens”

When I discovered that Chief Tola Adeniyi loves fountain pens,

I smiled.

I smiled because somehow, it made perfect sense.

A fountain pen is Classy,

A fountain pen is timeless,

A fountain pen is intentional

A fountain pen is smooth but powerful.

A fountain pen glides with confidence.

It is not rushed.

It is not loud.

A fountain pen is not disposable.

It requires intention.

It requires refill.

It requires care.

And in return —

It produces lines that last.

A fountain pen flows till spent,

It calls for patient strokes that summons respect,

It honours depth far more than hurried speed,

And when it moves, it signs with timeless creed.

Akogun, your life has been a vintage signature,

Through decades spent in ink and measured lines,

Through seasons thick with politics and strain,

Through times when silence promised safer gain —

You wrote.

You spoke.

You stood.

And history preserves your steadfast hand.

In the short time I have known you Sir,

I have come to understand something profound:

Greatness has texture. It has weight.

and, It has ink stains- earned from years and years of consistency.

I have encountered in you—not just a renowned columnist’s name,

But a blazing pen, a brilliant flame.

An unapologetic writer, bold and clear,

A well of wisdom flowing from year to year.

A courageous voice that will not bend,

A statesman steady to the very end.

Yet greater still than titles won—

I have felt a father in you, not just a famous one.

For you write not only on paper and page,

But on hearts, on minds, on every age.

Your words do more than fill a line—

They shape a soul, and they do refine.

You’ve shown me that conviction must calmly flow,

Not rushed by fear, not swayed by show.

That integrity must never skip a line,

But stand consistent—firm, divine.
