TINUBU PUTS NIGERIA BACK ON THE WORLD STAGE By Jacob Ogunseye

In a historic display of leadership and national pride, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, have once again shown the world that Nigeria is a force to be reckoned with.

During a landmark state visit to the United Kingdom, the presidential couple received the highest royal honours at Windsor Castle, hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

This is the first time in 37 years that a Nigerian president has been accorded such recognition, a testament to Nigeria’s rising influence under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The ceremony was a vivid demonstration of global protocol and prestige. Prince William and Princess Catherine personally welcomed the Tinubus, escorting them across the castle grounds.

President Tinubu rode alongside King Charles III in the Australian State Coach, while the First Lady followed with Queen Camilla in the Scottish State Coach, paraded through cheering crowds amid pageantry, military precision, and a 42-gun salute from the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery.

Inside Windsor Castle, the couple attended a private audience, viewed the Royal Collection featuring Nigeria-related artefacts, and joined a state banquet in St George’s Hall, timed thoughtfully to accommodate the President’s Ramadan observance.

Beyond ceremonial grandeur, the visit produced tangible benefits for Nigeria. It reinforced the Nigeria-UK Strategic Partnership, strengthened bilateral trade valued at £8 billion annually, and advanced cooperation in security, climate action, education, technology, and migration.

Key milestones included the signing of a £746 million UK Export Finance agreement for upgrading Lagos ports (Apapa and Tin Can Island), memoranda of understanding on defence, culture, and economic collaboration, and strategic engagements with business leaders and diaspora communities — all contributing to jobs, investment, and national development.

The success of the visit also reflects the coordinated efforts of Renewed Hope Global and Renewed Hope United Kingdom. Prince Ade Omole and Ambassador J.K. Adebola led the London Secretariat with precision, ensuring seamless engagement with stakeholders, Nigerians abroad, and international partners. Their work highlighted the power of structured diaspora engagement in advancing Nigeria’s global interests.

President Tinubu’s state visit is more than a ceremonial achievement. It signals that Nigeria is back in the conversation, respected for its leadership, strategic vision, and growing influence. Under his stewardship, the nation has reclaimed its place on the world stage, demonstrating that Nigerian leadership is purposeful, effective, and globally relevant.

Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!
