EMMA OGOSI: A MESSAGE TO BUDDING ARTISTES

There is a mindset I’ve been observing in the industry, and it’s one we need to approach with a bit more wisdom.

As a rising artiste, it’s natural to seek support from those who are already established. Sometimes, the answer you receive will be “no.” That can be disappointing—but it should not be misunderstood.

Not every “no” is rejection in the negative sense. More often than not, it simply means that person was not part of your journey at that moment.

With time, effort, and grace, many of you will find your path and achieve success. When that happens, it’s important to carry yourself with maturity. There is no honour in looking back to criticize or mock those who did not assist you earlier.

Everyone’s path is different. The people who are meant to walk with you will find you, and the opportunities meant for you will come.

So when you succeed:

Be thankful.

Be grounded.

Acknowledge those who stood by you.

And also understand that those who did not were never necessarily against you—they simply had a different role, or no role at all, in your journey.

Growth comes with perspective. And perspective teaches gratitude.

Stay focused. Stay respectful. And keep moving forward.
