OKONJO IWEALA DISMISSES STORY

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), has dismissed claims of being criticized for her visit to President Bola Tinubu.

In a Twitter post on Wednesday evening, the ex-Minister of Finance of Nigeria characterized the circulated statement on WhatsApp as “wickedly false designed to create mischief among Nigerians.”

According to her, “It has just been brought to my attention that there is a false statement circulating on whatsApp attributed to me saying that I am being attacked for my visit to President Tinubu.

“That statement circulating is false, In fact wickedly false designed to create mischief among Nigerians. Please disregard the statement.”

It was earlier gathered that the Director General of the WTO had a meeting with President Tinubu at the Aso Villa in Abuja on Tuesday.

Addressing reporters at the Presidential Villa following her discussion with the President, Okonjo-Iweala shared that they discussed strategies for generating employment opportunities for the youth and extending support to women and children who, she emphasized, were most affected by the challenges in the nation.
