AKPABIO TELLS NDUME TO RESIGN FROM APC

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has criticised Senator Ali Ndume for his conduct, stating that his actions are unbecoming of a senior member of the Senate and set a poor example for others.

It will be recalled that the Senate has removed Senator Ali Ndume as the Chief Whip and replaced him with Senator Tahir Monguno.

Ndume’s replacement by the Senate followed a directive issued to that effect in a letter written by the National Chairman of the party, Umar Ganduje and National Secretary, Senator Bashir Ajibola.

The letter from the APC, which was signed by National Chairman, Alhaji Umar Ganduje and the National Secretary, Senator Suŕajudeen Basiru respectively to Akpabio, said that Ndume’s complaints about President Bola Tinubu are unbecoming and his utterances are not favourable to the Federal Government.

The request was put to voice votes by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and loudly affirmed by all the APC senators.

Akpabio did not mince words in expressing his disappointment with Ndume’s behaviour, particularly his recent public outbursts.

He noted that such conduct is detrimental not only to the unity of the All Progressive Party, APC, but also to the country’s image.

Akpabio stated: “His actions are unbecoming of a senior member of the Senate and set a poor example.

“His latest tirade, aired during a programme on Arise Television, where he referred to the government of President Bola Tinubu as being run by thieves, portrays Ali Ndume as a person who is bent on running the country down and running the party aground through incitement and lies.”

He further stated that such inflammatory statements undermine the efforts and achievements of the government and APC.

“We are of the view that Senator Ali Ndume should honourably resign his membership of the APC and join any opposition party of his choice formally, instead of hiding behind the veil of grassroots activism to decimate the hard earned-decision and goodwill that our party, the APC, is enjoying within and outside the country.” He added.

He also called for decorum and accountability among the senior members of the Senate.
