ANAMBRA GOES TOUGH ON SECURITY DIRECTIVES

The Anambra State Government has issued a stern warning to town criers who have been misrepresenting the provisions of the new Anambra State Homeland Security Law 2025.

According to a public notice signed by Commissioner for Information Law Mefor, PhD, some town criers have been spreading false information about the law, including claims that people wearing dreadlocks or sagging trousers would be arrested, and that women not wearing pants and bras would be arrested.

These claims have been debunked by the state government, which emphasized that the new law has nothing to do with dress code. The government views this misinformation as intentional and fabricated to incite the public against the new law and its associated initiatives, Agunechemba and Operation Udo Ga-Achi.

To prevent further confusion, the state government has directed town criers to consult with their communities’ Presidents-General before broadcasting any messages. The Presidents-General will be held accountable if the messages misrepresent the new law or its purpose.

The Anambra State Government urges town criers and the general public to take this notice seriously and to verify information before sharing it to prevent the spread of misinformation.
