AREGBESOLA STONED AT ADC RALLY?

There were reports yesterday that former governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola , and members of his African Democratic Congress (ADC), were stoned in Remo North, Ogun State.

This follows allegations by ADC that their canopies were removed, chairs broken, musical instruments seized, and an armoured tank stationed at a ground chosen for their rally to intimidate their candidate, leaders, and supporters.

ADC members had trooped out to campaign ahead of Saturday’s by-election for Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency when the incident reportedly happened.

ADC State Chairman, Femi Soluade, said, “Immediately they notice Aregbesola is around, we are being threatened; they have to stop our letter that has already been granted. Here we are to express our grievances and let the world know what the APC government is doing; this is an aberration.
“Let it be clear. ADC will not be intimidated. We are the credible alternative and the voice of the people. Ogun State and indeed Nigerians have embraced us because they are tired of oppression, tired of intimidation, and tired of a government that uses security agencies as attack dogs against the opposition.”

Reports from social media users alleged that the ADC rally was disrupted by thugs who threw stones at members of the party, including Aregbesola, who recently served as Minister of Interior.
An X user, @abdullahayofel, said, “Omo, Today at Remo North in Ogun state, Aregbesola was shown why it is not right to betray the man God used to lift you in life, but I do not support stoning of anyone during campaigns.”
@KennyNuga said, “Aregbe thought he was still relevant in the SouthWest. He needs to retrace his steps back home and do the necessary realignment.”
@bodecassius said, “Today at Remo North in Ogun state, Aregbesola was shown why it is not right to betray the man God used to lift you in life. The guy received some stoning, pure water etc more to come. Odale alaimore. Ingrate. Baba Kabiru Southwest go too hot for you.”
