The event, held at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hotel, was attended by a plethora of dignitaries, including President Bola Tinubu, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who chaired the occasion, and former heads of state Generals Yakubu Gowon and Abdulsalam Abubakar.
Other notable attendees included former President Goodluck Jonathan, former Vice Presidents Atiku Abubakar, Namadi Sambo, and Yemi Osibanjo.
The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in 2023, Mr. Peter Obi, and the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, also graced the occasion.
The keynote speaker was Nana Akufo-Addo, former President of Ghana, while his counterpart, the former President of Sierra Leone, Ernest Koroma, also made an appearance.
The event was not only a celebration of Babangida’s autobiography but also a fundraising opportunity for his presidential library. Governors, captains of industry, the secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, industrialists, technocrats, and traditional rulers were all in attendance.
Buhari’s absence, however, highlighted the lingering tension between him and Babangida, stemming from the 1985 military coup that ousted Buhari from power.
