CELEBRATING BODE OPESEITAN AT 60 By Dare Folarin

He is fondly called “Celeb” by friends and associates for his love for writing and reporting the lives, acts, tastes and sartorial preferences of the rich and famous. “Celeb” was also the title of his column in the Nigerian Tribune in those days where he rose to the enviable position of Editor of the Nigerian Tribune on Saturday.

Today, 21st April is his 60th birthday but the man who relishes “constructing beautiful edifices about high net worth personalities will not say ” Jack Robinson” about himself.

I join legion of his admirers worldwide to celebrate “Celeb”, a citizen in whom there is no guile, a dependable ally, a giver, an inimitable patriot with prodigious capacity for work and more work.

I served under him when he was Director, Public Relations, Events and Sponsorship in Globacom and we had great fun “leveraging maximally” (his favourite expression) the company’s activities across Nigeria and Ghana and all over the world in sundry sectors – sports, fashion, culture, arts, business or technology. For his uncommon dedication to duties and uncanny abilities for multi-tasking he earned the sobriquet “Alaafin” who is available 24-7!

Post – Globacom, he has been involved in several global activities and human development issues. His rekindled love for Evangelism and philanthropy is the defining essence of his life of plenitude after six decades on earth.

Here is wishing “Abode!” (only one personality hails him like that) many more fruitful years of service to God, humanity and Nigeria in sterling health.
