Veteran Nigerian musician, John Odafe Asiemo, professionally known as Daddy Showkey, has publicly expressed deep gratitude to fellow artiste, Alabi Pasuma, for supporting him during one of the most challenging periods of his life.
Speaking during a recent live performance at a celebrity event, where Pasuma made a surprise appearance, Daddy Showkey recounted how the Fuji star stood by him after a life-threatening accident in 2007.
In a now-viral video from the event, the “Galala” singer emotionally revealed that Pasuma was the only friend who consistently supported his family throughout his lengthy recovery.
“I was in the hospital for three years. During that time, many abandoned me, but Pasuma took full responsibility for my family’s welfare,” he said, pointing at Pasuma on stage. “He stood by me in bad times and good times. I can never forget him.”
Daddy Showkey also used the moment to call out what he described as the fake friendships in the music industry, stating that several of his colleagues turned their backs on him during his recovery.
“After I got better, I went to see some of them, but they wouldn’t even let me in. They would tell me they weren’t around, even though I knew they were inside,” he added.
The revelation has sparked conversations online, with many praising Pasuma for his loyalty and support.
