DAVIDO,CHARLY BOY TACKLE EFCC OVER CUBANA

Nigerian activist Charles Oputa, better known as Charly Boy, has criticized the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for its arrest and arraignment of businessman Paschal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, for Naira abuse.

Charly Boy accused the EFCC of engaging in “frivolous shenanigans” to distract Nigerians from more serious issues. He questioned why the agency was pursuing such minor offenses instead of tackling major financial crimes.

“Spraying Naira is a part of our age-long familiar culture that promotes bonding among people,” Charly Boy argued. “The three-count charge against Cubana Chief Priest makes one wonder if the EFCC has no more important tasks to perform.”

He added that the EFCC’s actions were only serving to “keep distracting poor, hungry, and hopeless Nigerians.”

“Why focus on harmless, pedestrian misbehavior instead of those who steal vast sums of money from the public with impunity?” Charly Boy asked. “God punish all of you in EFCC, may you not die a good death.”

In another development, singer Davido has said it was not possible for Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest to be jailed after he was granted N10m bail after pleading not guilty for naira mutilation.

Cubana Chief Priest, who was arraigned before Justice KehindeOgundare of the Federal High Court, Lagos, on Wednesday, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on a three-count charge bordering on abuse of the Naira, was granted bail for N10m with two sureties in like sum after pleading not guilty.

The socialite had taken to his Instagram handle to thank his friends and fans for their concerns shortly after he was granted bail.

He noted that he was humbled by the trial while adding that it has confirmed that he isn’t “small.”

Reacting to his post via the comment section, Davido said it was not possible for Cubana Chief Priest to be jailed, stressing that he could not bear not seeing him for six months.

He wrote, “I no go see u for 6 months ke… Never.”

Recall that Justice AbimbolaAwogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos, last Friday, sentenced popular crossdresser, Bobrisky to six months in jail without the option of a fine after he was convicted of Naira mutilation.
