GOV ENO DIRECTS APPOINTEES TO DEFECT

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has made a decisive political move, directing all commissioners and political appointees to either join him in defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC) or vacate their positions.
Speaking during a State Executive Council meeting, Governor Eno confirmed his departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), emphasizing that his decision is irreversible.
“Anyone who says they didn’t see this coming is stuck in the past,” the Governor remarked, reinforcing his firm stance.
Governor Eno cited his growing admiration for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership as a key factor influencing his shift to the APC. Addressing his appointees, he made it clear there would be no room for dissent: “If you’re not an elected official like a House of Assembly member or Local Government Chairman, you have a choice — follow me or step aside.”
He also issued a stern warning to any political actors planning to remain in the PDP and challenge him: “Anyone thinking of using the PDP structure against me after I leave is delusional. I will still maintain control of that structure.”
The Governor’s directive marks a significant political realignment in Akwa Ibom and signals potential shifts in the state’s political landscape.
