He made the revelation during the monthly thanksgiving service and special prayers for sports men and women and their families held at the church national headquarters, Throne of Grace Parish, Ebute-Metta, Lagos with the theme: ‘Greater Heights’,
Praying for God’s intervention in the sports sector and restoration of its glory, pastor Adeboye also used the opportunity to welcome the church to a new calendar year which starts from the month of September.
In his words: ‘I love crowd and I always feel happy when I see crowd. But at the last convention I was afraid when I saw the crowd. When I went to the children’s section, I saw thousands of children stretching up to a kilometer.
‘As you know, it is very difficult to keep just 100 children together without having issues, but God was faithful in keeping the thousands of children. None was missing.
Addressing the members on the programme topic, pastor Adeboye urged them to be committed to a lifestyle of holiness, purity and total obedience to God’s commandments.
According to him, a person living in sin is dead while living. There is no height the person can attain without being saved first. After being saved, you must be sanctified and this is the level that you live above sin.
In his words: ‘Sanctification is when you live above sin. The experience of salvation helps you not to sin again. Sanctification is beautiful. It makes you closer to God. Everybody can call God father, only the sanctified can call God daddy.
‘There is an intimacy between God and you when you are sanctified. In modern parlance, God is my popsy.
‘You can heal the sick and do miracles and God will still say he does not know you. You can’t deceive God. Those who are connected to the Lord will keep flying and never get tired. If you want greater heights, get connected to Jesus, don’t just come to church.’
