A native of Bacita in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, he grew up in a large family of 15 children.

Before finding fame, he worked as a bus driver and later developed his craft in theatre, which led to his breakthrough role in Aiyekooto.

Ibrahim Chatta was first married to Nollywood actress Olayinka Solomon(who is now remarried with children), and their union produced a son. After their divorce, he remarried, but that marriage also ended.
