JONATHAN IN DILEMMA OVER 2027

Former President Goodluck Jonathan is facing a major dilemma as he considers an appeal from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to join the 2027 presidential race, as reported by Nigerian Tribune on Saturday, 30 August, 2025.

‎Reports say the ADC leadership is eager to present Jonathan as its presidential candidate.

‎Party insiders believe he could give them a strong chance of success if he accepts.

‎They are ready to zone the presidency to the South to secure his participation.
‎However, Jonathan is said to be reluctant because of one key concern.
‎According to sources, he does not want to contest against Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s candidate in 2023.

Jonathan reportedly believes the Igbo people gave him massive support during the 2015 elections, even more than his own Ijaw people.
‎”Jonathan’s only issue with the ADC is that he does not want to contest against Peter Obi because he believes that the Igbo people supported him in 2015 even more than his own Ijaw people,” he said.
