LADIES, WHY GO FOR PANEL BEATING?

Not too long ago, I read on the internet about a man who insisted on divorcing his wife few weeks into their marriage. In fact, he started making plans during the honeymoon, saying he is no longer interested in the union.

After so many back and forth regarding the reason behind his decision, he said the woman he dated for three years is not the same person he got married to.

How? How could that be possible?

With this revelation, friends, family and other people concerned became more confused as they were beginning to think that the groom is mentally unstable.

To prove to them that he knows what he is saying, he asked that the wife should be allowed to wash off the makeup on her face, which the wife did reluctantly.

Oh No! This can’t be! Who is this! What in heaven’s name is this!

Those were the different reactions from people seated as they don’t know what else to say with what they had just seen.

Then I began to wonder, how could you date/ court for three years and your real identity is unknown to the man?  Could that mean that you are a professional PANEL BEATER?

Let me quickly take you through the process of panel beating.

Panel beating is a term used to describe the process of repairing damaged car panels or other bodywork.

Here are the 5 steps to Panel Beating:

  1. Shrinking/Stretching
  2. Planishing
  3. Welding
  4. Filling
  5. Sanding

Shrinking/Stretching

This involves applying heat to the damaged area of the panel whilst using a special hammer to reshape the metal. This technique is used together with planishing to restore the panel to original shape and contours.

Planishing

A planishing hammer is used to finely shape and smooth the panel surface. This metalworking technique helps push out the damaged metal where the metal is pushed against a shaping tool, known as a dolly or stake.

Welding

Welding may be use to join pieces of metal together by melting the work pieces together, once cooled it becomes a strong joint, ensuring a strong vehicle structure. There are several ways to weld, such as by a gas flame or an electric arc but is dependent on the type of materials to be joined.

Filling

This involves adding putty filler to fill in some small holes in the surface so the original shape and contours can be achieved. It needs to be applied carefully onto the area as fast as possible as once it hardens it’s not usable anymore. As the filler hardens, then it’s time to smooth and shape by sanding.

Sanding

Sanding is the procedure used to finely shape and smooth area ready for spray painting. Depending on the stage of work, a different texture can be achieved by changing the coarseness of the sanding pad.

After the preparation is completed, the car can be sprayed, painted and be realigned if necessary, where the car is placed on a hydraulic lift then ensuring the chassis and other parts of car are properly aligned. This is important as the impact of collisions may have effected the under body of the car.

Using excessive make up on your face is like panel beating your face. Although, you will appreciate, in fact love what the outcome looks like, but do you know  what extra damage the chemical used for those products are doing to your face?

A Bbnaija female housemate once said “I hate my natural look.” How could you?

As a girl, lady and woman alike, while looking good is of topmost priority, too much of it should be avoided at all cost. Apart from the financial cost, think about the damage too much of these things might cause your skin.

This is not to discourage make up users, however, you need to wear your natural look sometimes. Be proud of your naturality.  That cannot be trade for anything.
