LAGOS CLEARS IJORA BRIDGE

The Lagos State Government on Monday, embarked on the removal of shanties and illegal business activities under the Ijora bridge.

The Commissioner of the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab confirmed this in a post on the X platform.

He wrote, “Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources #LasgMOE commence removal of shanties and illegal business activities under the Ijora bridge.”

On Saturday, Wahab disclosed that a 23-hour notice was served to illegal occupants squatting under the bridge to vacate the premises.

It will be recalled that the state government had earlier in February destroyed and cleared illegal shanties occupied by squatters under the Ijora bridge after a five-day quit notice.

Following this, the government announced its plan to convert the under-bridge to a creational space.
