LAGOS SEALS CHURCH, HOTELS

On Wednesday 11 March 2026, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) carried out a statewide enforcement operation and shut down several establishments among them a church, a shopping mall, hotels and lounges for persisting in noise‑pollution and other environmental offences.

The agency announced the raid on its official X account. Officers moved through Satellite Town, Ikotun‑Idimu Road, Ejigbo and Egbe Road, posting seal orders on the premises. Named sites included Power Exploits Ministry International (a church) and Kafe Mall; other sealed properties were hotels and leisure venues whose loud‑speaker use and late‑night activities had repeatedly breached Lagos’ noise‑level limits.

Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, LASEPA’s General Manager, said the exercise sends “a clear message” that the agency will not tolerate violations that endanger public health and community peace. He reminded operators that noise pollution contributes to stress, hearing loss and sleep disruption, and that permits are required for amplified sound.

This action follows a pattern of similar sweeps in Ogudu, Apapa, Ojota and Alapere earlier in the year, where LASEPA sealed dozens of churches, hotels and lounges. The agency says it will continue monitoring and will revoke licences for repeat offenders.

In short, LASEPA’s 11 March raid sealed a church, a mall, hotels and other businesses across Lagos because they ignored noise‑pollution rules, reinforcing the state’s push for quieter, healthier neighbourhoods.
