OYINLOLA: ADELEKE WEPT AT PDP MEETING

Former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola has revealed that Osun state Governor Ademola Adeleke broke down in tears during a PDP meeting while discussing the local government crisis that led to federal withdrawal of local government funds.

Speaking in an interview with Arise TV , Oyinlola described the emotional scene that unfolded as party members discussed the mounting pressure on Adeleke regarding local government administration. “If you look at that PDP communique, it was point blank that why should everybody be rolling over to the APC with the governor of the home state, and Mr. President is refusing. And that was the discussion; the governor was frustrated to the point that, honestly, when we were discussing, the governor shed tears, how can you withstand a presidential pressure? It’s too much for anybody to handle, no matter who you are,” he stated, expressing sympathy for Gov Adeleke’s predicament.

The former governor attributed the massive defection from the PDP to the APC to the ruling party’s strategic exploitation of internal organizational problems within the opposition. He explained that the APC capitalized on the PDP’s lack of a party secretary, convincing members that without proper administrative structure, they would be unable to obtain the necessary documentation to contest for positions.

He expressed relief that this administrative challenge has been resolved, noting that the party now has a secretary capable of processing forms for all potential candidates seeking to contest various positions.

The former governor also revealed that some PDP members who had previously held public office were presented with incriminating documents detailing their alleged misconduct. Faced with potential exposure or legal consequences, these individuals felt compelled to defect to the ruling party as a form of protection, leaving them with little choice but to abandon their original political affiliation.
