RALPH NWOSU: WHAT OBJ SAID ON ADC

In a video shared by Arise News, Ralphs Nwosu, the former National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has shared insights into his interaction with former President Olusegun Obasanjo regarding the party’s development.

Nwosu spoke about the circumstances surrounding discussions on building a broader political platform, noting that the engagement reflected efforts aimed at strengthening political participation.

His remarks come amid ongoing conversations about party structures and collaboration within Nigeria’s political landscape.

According to him, “He [Olusegun Obasanjo] called me and said, ‘We want to associate with your party.’ I said, ‘I will die.’ He said, ‘No, we are serious. We’ve done our due diligence and we’ve identified ADC as the party.’ I said, ‘Baba, the party is open.’ He told me, ‘But you won’t be chairman because we want to build a grand party.’ I said, ‘What am I doing with the chairmanship? I didn’t build the party to be chairman. I built the party to put it forward for Nigeria.’”

He explained that his position has always been centered on contributing to national development rather than holding office, emphasizing that the party was established with a broader vision. Nwosu noted that discussions about leadership roles were secondary to the goal of building a strong and inclusive political platform.

The former ADC chairman further highlighted the importance of collaboration in politics, stating that partnerships can help strengthen institutions and expand opportunities for participation. He added that openness and inclusivity remain key principles in the party’s outlook.
