REGINA CHUKWU REFLECTS ON WIDOWHOOD

Popular Nollywood actress Regina Chukwu has shared an emotional and deeply personal account of her life, reflecting on widowhood, motherhood, and her journey toward healing and self-awareness.

Speaking candidly during a recent appearance on the Talk To B Show, Chukwu opened up about the heartbreak of losing her husband just three years into marriage.

“I got married in my early twenties,” she revealed. “I lost my husband barely three years into my marriage. My last child was just four months when their father died.” The actress painted a raw and painful picture of her early years, describing the emotional and financial hardship she faced as a young widow raising two children alone.

Chukwu credited her involvement in the Yoruba movie industry for reshaping her perspective and tempering her fiery temperament.

“It was after I joined the Yoruba movie industry that someone would abuse me and I would let it go,” she shared. “Before, it would feel like you had pierced me with a needle.”

Her words reflect a significant transformation from a once-combative personality to someone who values peace over confrontation. “I don’t know how to banter words with people,” she admitted. “We would just go physical. Let’s fight and not keep malice because I don’t know how to. We would draw the battle line and go physical and immediately I will feed you with sand.”

Regina didn’t shy away from acknowledging her past. “You will always find me where there is fight but I will never be at fault,” she said with honesty. Her evolution, she explained, stemmed from her time living among the Yoruba people and the cultural wisdom she absorbed. “The Yoruba say, ‘Learn how to explain yourself before you learn to fight.’ That made me realise that there must be a reason behind every anger.”

Her story is one of resilience, transformation, and hard-won wisdom, a reminder that even through life’s toughest moments, growth is always possible.
