REMA TO PERFORM AT MTV AWARDS

Nigerian afrobeat star Divine Ikubor, better known as Rema, has been announced as one of the performers for the 2023 MTV Europe Music Awards.

The award show will be held on November 5, 2023, at the Paris Nord Villepinte.

Rema, who has been nominated for three awards: Best Song, Best Collaboration and Best Afrobeats, will perform alongside Anne-Marie, David Guetta, Manuel Turizo, Ozuna, Reneé Rapp and Thirty Seconds to Mars, according to a statement released by organisers on Tuesday.

The statement read, “Rema – the Afrobeats sensation, whose ‘Calm Down’ with Selena Gomez has become a soundtrack to 2023, continues to peak charts and win accolades the world over.

“Having released ‘Rave & Roses Ultra’ plus fan favourite ‘Charm’ in addition to winning his first MTV VMA in the ‘Best Afrobeats’ category, Rema will continue his mission of taking the sound of Africa to the world with his inaugural MTV EMA performance in Paris.

“Rema has been nominated for three MTV EMAs, including Best Song and Best Collaboration for ‘Calm Down’ with Selena Gomez and Best Afrobeats.”
