At 45 years old, the singer reflected on her past relationships and concluded that what she once thought was love was actually just infatuation.
She admitted that despite trying multiple times, she has never experienced romantic love the way she does with her child.
Tiwa expressed uncertainty about whether romantic love is meant for her, saying, “I’ve never felt true love except with my son. Looking back at my relationships, even my marriage, I realise it wasn’t love. I’ve tried repeatedly, so maybe love isn’t meant for me in this lifetime.”
Tiwa’s comments come several years after her widely publicized divorce from Tunji ‘TeeBillz’ Balogun. The couple married in 2013 but separated in 2018 after efforts to save the marriage failed.
At the time, Tiwa revealed that her ex-husband’s actions contributed to the breakdown of their relationship, and she was also dealing with postpartum depression following the birth of their son.
Throughout the divorce process, Tiwa faced intense public scrutiny and criticism, with many people judging her without hearing her perspective.
She recalled being advised by some well-known individuals to keep quiet to protect her reputation, but she chose to speak out instead.
