I’ve just monitored the savaging of Super Eagles’ Samuel Chukwueze on a live programme on Brila Sports radio for his performance in yesterday’s match against Guinea Bissau. The attack on him is quite simply untenable for a young man whose exploits we all saw at Villarreal that earned him a lucrative transfer to AC Milan.

One of the analysts even said he was overvalued on the transaction, insisting he’s featuring for the Italian side because of Christian Pulisic’s absence due to injury!

While commentators are entitled to their perspectives and opinions, it’s necessary to resist the urge to hurt others who haven’t committed any crime other than playing football for their country.
