TERRORISM: LAWMAKERS RAISE ALARM OVER ALLEGED ATTACK PLAN

Tension has gripped the National Assembly following reports of a possible terrorist plot to bomb the complex in Abuja. Lawmakers have expressed deep concern, urging urgent action to tighten security around the nation’s legislative building.

According to reports, intelligence agencies recently uncovered credible information suggesting that terrorists are planning a coordinated attack on the National Assembly. The revelation has sparked fear among lawmakers and staff, many of whom say they now feel unsafe within the complex.

During a plenary session, several members of the House of Representatives demanded immediate reinforcement of security and the establishment of a Legislative Security Directorate, a dedicated unit that would handle the safety of legislators and parliamentary workers.

One lawmaker, who preferred to remain anonymous, told reporters that security lapses around the complex have become a major concern, noting that “any breach could have devastating consequences for the country.”

The House leadership has since directed the National Security Adviser and the heads of security agencies to review intelligence reports and deploy additional personnel to prevent any attack.

As of now, there has been no official confirmation from the Department of State Services (DSS) or the Nigerian Police, but security patrols around the Assembly complex have reportedly been increased.
