VON, QATAR PARTNER TO TACKLE FAKE NEWS

Voice of Nigeria, VON, is seeking to combat fake news, misinformation and disinformation in Nigeria by partnering with Qatar Foundation.

Director-General of VON, Jibrin  Ndace disclosed this yesterday, when a team from Sheikh Hamad Award for Translation and International Understanding visited VON’s Lagos office to announce the Qatari literary award.

The award seeks to promote language and culture for mutual co-existence among countries.

VON DG while addressing the media said: “With this foundation, what we are looking forward to is a very robust partnership. Partnerships in fighting fake news, misinformation and disinformation, but also in promotion of our own culture.

“As you know, we are deepening the agenda of the President and Commander-in-Chief, which is the renew hope agenda and to have the hope of the people renewed, you need to continue to seek partnership.

“So, in the area of the media, we are partnering everyone that is willing to partner us that can add value to what we are doing for a mutually beneficial relationship.”
