FAYOSE: I PAID DEARLY FOR FIGHTING BUHARI

Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has spoken out about the challenges he faced during his confrontation with former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Fayose believes he paid a heavy price for standing up to Buhari, citing the seven-year trial he has endured.

In 2016, Fayose was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on 11 charges of money laundering, alongside several others.

The allegations centered around the laundering of approximately N1.219 billion, said to be part of a larger sum transferred from the Office of the National Security Adviser.

Fayose recounted the physical harm he suffered at the hands of security operatives, who allegedly hit him on the neck.

This incident required him to undergo three surgeries, leaving a lasting impact on his well-being.

According to Fayose: “When I said I must fight Buhari throughout, I paid dearly for it. I have been in court for the last seven years. They hit me on my neck, and I had three surgeries.

“In politics of survival, you won’t blame those that are trying to survive, I won’t blame the governors or anybody.”

The PDP chieftain also commented on the temperament of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

He called for peace between Wike and aggrieved PDP chieftains.

“When I was in the PDP, I stood my ground and handed over to Wike as my younger brother, he was not as hot as I was then. But when you see a troublemaker who is bigger than you are, you will take it easy.

“That is why I said when a Wike is fighting, you must find a way to ‘melembe’ so that you are not consumed by the trouble.

“All we need in PDP is peace and nothing more, you can’t build a family with everybody around you mad and self-seekers,” he added.
