ADEBOYE: WHY I DIDN’T HONOUR A PRESIDENT’S INVITATION

General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has disclosed why he refused to honour an invitation from an African head of state seeking divine healing.

Speaking during the July Holy Ghost Service held on Friday evening at the Redemption City in Mowe, Ogun State, the revered cleric recounted how the unnamed president, suffering from an ailment beyond medical remedy, sought him out for prayers after hearing testimonies about his healing ministry.

Adeboye explained that the politician contacted one of his pastors with a request for the General Overseer to visit him personally. However, Adeboye declined, saying his schedule was fully booked and that he values his commitment to God over any earthly status.

“I remember the case of one head of state somewhere in Africa who had a problem no doctor could handle,” Adeboye said. “He contacted our pastor in the capital of his country and said, ‘Send for your General Overseer.’ The pastor passed on the message, but I told him to inform His Excellency that I’m very busy. I didn’t want to explain that there is one Excellency greater than the other.”

Adeboye further revealed that the head of state later visited the RCCG camp ground himself — and received healing that very day.

The cleric also used the occasion to preach against anger, describing it as a form of “temporary madness” that can derail destinies. He warned his congregation not to fall into the trap of provocation, stressing that insults or verbal attacks should not warrant a loss of composure.

“Some people will try everything to make you angry just to watch you fall. But I have learnt not to respond. A lot has been said about me, and they are waiting for me to get angry. But I won’t, because I must reach my goal,” he added.
