OMIJE OJUMI’S DEATH HITS MUSIC WORLD

The family of popular Nigerian gospel singer and minister, Evangelist Olubunmi Akinnaanu Adeoye, widely known as Omije Ojumi, has announced her death.

In a statement released on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, the family confirmed that the renowned gospel artiste passed away at a hospital in Lagos.

Omije Ojumi was celebrated for her emotional and deeply spiritual ministrations, often marked by tears, which earned her the sobriquet “Omije Ojumi,” meaning “tears of the eyes.”

Before her death, concerns had been raised about her health following reports and videos that surfaced in October 2025. In one widely circulated clip, the gospel singer was seen during a spiritual programme, visibly weak and unable to speak, responding only with tears when addressed by a clergy man. At a point, she reportedly struggled to identify herself, heightening public concern about her condition.

Observers also noticed that she had a plaster on her right hand in the video, suggesting she had recently received medical attention.

The footage sparked an outpouring of prayers and messages of support from fans and fellow gospel ministers across the country.

Omije Ojumi was known for her passionate worship sessions and soul-stirring songs, which resonated strongly with audiences within and outside Nigeria’s gospel music community.
