TINUBU: END TO MY 36 YEARS FRIENDSHIP By Kashim Imam

A prominent figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mutawalli Kashim Imam, has publicly announced the end of his 36-year political and personal relationship with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, citing conscience, faith and opposition to what he described as widespread injustice under the current administration.

Imam, who serves as Chairman of ADC Membership Registration and Revalidation and is the party’s North-East National Leader, made the declaration in a video circulated on social media platform X by Sulaiman Uwaisu Idris, popularly known as @KafinHausa.

In the footage, the former ally of the president said his decision followed deep reflection.

“I was a close ally of Tinubu for 36 years, but today I decided to part ways with him out of fear of God and a rejection of injustice,” Imam said.

He delivered a sweeping criticism of the Tinubu administration, describing it as the most unjust government he has witnessed in Nigeria’s history.

“Since the creation of Nigeria, I have never seen injustice like this one,” he stated.

Imam declared that he has now aligned politically with former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, saying his support is driven by a desire to “pursue justice and rescue the nation.”

He argued that Nigeria’s challenges stem not from lack of resources but from poor leadership and inequity in governance.

“There’s abundance of wealth in this country. If you go to every state, there’s wealth: hidden or seen. Our major problem is injustice from our leaders, and there has never been injustice like there is now,” he said.

Dismissing the perceived dominance of governors in electoral outcomes, Imam insisted that political power ultimately lies with ordinary citizens. Quoting the late Sardauna of Sokoto, he said, “If all the Nigerian governors would support Tinubu, it would not change anything. Governors do not vote. The poor hold the vote. This time, the poor are searching for their rights. They are aware of leaders that are for them, and the wicked ones.”

He expressed confidence that Nigerians would make what he termed the “right choice” in the next elections, signalling a deepening realignment within opposition ranks ahead of future national polls.
