SIX FAKE MIRACLE PASTORS ARRESTED

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested six individuals suspected of defrauding members of the public by posing as pastors and staging fake miracles.

The suspects — Fadahunsi, Kolade, Tijani, Iyanuoluwa, Arijesulola and Ademola — were apprehended in Idanre, the headquarters of Idanre Local Government, where they allegedly carried out their activities.

In a statement on Thursday, Ondo State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said the arrests followed a coordinated, intelligence-driven operation conducted by the command’s tactical unit in collaboration with Community Safety Officers.

According to Jimoh, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects operated as a syndicate, assigning specific roles among themselves to create the appearance of a structured and legitimate religious gathering.

He explained that the group allegedly staged miracles and spiritual interventions to gain the confidence of unsuspecting victims, exploiting their faith and personal challenges.

“Preliminary findings indicate that they promised divine solutions to financial difficulties, health challenges and other personal problems, only to obtain money and valuables under false pretence,” Jimoh added.

He stated that further investigations are ongoing to determine the number of victims, the financial magnitude of the alleged fraud, and whether other collaborators were involved.

Jimoh noted that the suspects remain in custody and will be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

He urged members of the public to exercise caution and avoid falling victim to individuals who use religion or false promises of miracles as a cover for criminal activities.

“Residents should verify suspicious claims and promptly report dubious gatherings to the nearest police station,” the police spokesperson added.
