One of these doctrines denied the nature of Christ either as a deity or man. There’s no doubt, Jesus is both a deity and a man. He’s a deity incarnated as a man to carry out the divine plan of God. But the demonic doctrine holds three beliefs on the nature of Jesus. The first belief by the Gnostics was that the ‘Christ’ came upon the man who was called incarnated Christ at baptism. They believe that the ‘Christ’ in him left at the arrest.
The Docetism held the belief that Christ was not really a man, he was a spectral appearance. He only suffered for man’s sins because divine beings are incapable of dying.
The Ebonites held the belief that Jesus was a mere man who by His scrupulous obedience to the law was ‘justified’ and became the Messiah.
Another sect of the Gnostics held the belief that Christ didn’t have a body at all. They believed that the existence of Christ as a man was just a clever hallucination.
These beliefs denied the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Because of the serious threat caused by these views of the Gnostics and Docetism, Apostle John wrote the book of John and 1st – 3rd John. Apostle Paul also wrote some books to counter these beliefs such as the book of Romans, 1st and 2nd Corinthians, and 1st and 2nd Thessalonians. To solve these heretic movement, the Apostles also penned down their orthodox conviction called Apostle’s Creed that goes as follows:
I believe God Almighty
And in Christ Jesus, His only son, our Lord
Who was born of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary
Who was crucified under Pontius Pilate and was burried
And the third day rose from the dead
Who ascended into heaven
And sits on the right hand of the Father
Whence He comes to judge the living and the dead
And in the Holy Ghost
The holy church
The remission of sins
The resurrection of the flesh
The life everlasting
Deny every demonic doctrines. The fact remains that Christ was incarnated as man, He died for our sins and rose up back to life after three days in the grave. He ascended into heaven where He sits at the right hand of the Almighty where we shall all meet Him on the last day.
Jesus died. Jesus rose. Jesus ascended. Jesus made us victorious and gave us assurance of heaven.
