The news regarding the invitation extended to Senate President Godswill Akpabio by Kogi central senatorial district lawmaker, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan generated mixed reactions after the reports went viral across various social media platforms.
Tensions, however, between Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central) and the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, appear to have eased as the Kogi lawmaker extended the invitation to him and other senators for a project commissioning in her senatorial district.
“In marking my second-year anniversary as serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I wish to invite fellow Distinguished Senators to join me for projects commissioning in Kogi State,” the letter read.
The Senate President and the Kogi lawmaker, it can be recalled, had been at loggerheads for months following allegations if sexual harassment, with the female lawmaker serving a six months suspension after being found guilty of gross misconduct.
According to her statements which were made available to the general public by VANGUARD on Thursday October 30th, she pointed out that she was celebrating her second year as a federal lawmaker, hence the need to invite Akpabio and other senators.
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, widely admired for her boldness and outspokenness, by the invitation, showed that politics went beyond personal prejudice as the interest of her people remained paramount.
“In marking my second-year anniversary as serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I wish to invite fellow Distinguished Senators to join me for projects commissioning in Kogi State.” She said.
The invitation to Senator Godswill Akpabio and other lawmakers however, stirred mixed reactions from the general public as many believed the long standing confrontation might just have been doused.
