AYRA STARR HITS THE FILM SCENE

Grammy-nominated Nigerian music sensation Ayra Starr has taken her talents to the big screen with her acting debut in the upcoming American fantasy film Children of Blood and Bone.

In an interview with CBS, the “Rush” hitmaker shared her experience transitioning from music to film, describing it as both challenging and rewarding.

“This is my first movie ever,” she said. “I’m used to being a singer and a diva on set, but film is a different world. It’s not about you, you have to be on set on time. It made me get used to military time and working hard. I respect actors so much more now. Their stamina is impeccable.”

Starr also revealed that acting has always been a dream of hers, even though she often felt shy about it. “I’ve always loved acting,” she said. “This was the first time I’ve been on camera and not singing. It was amazing. I learned so much from everyone, especially the greats.”

Children of Blood and Bone, based on the bestselling novel by Nigerian-American author Tomi Adeyemi, is directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood. The star-studded cast includes Damson Idris, Tosin Cole, Idris Elba, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Cynthia Erivo, Viola Davis, and Thuso Mbedu.

The film is set to be released by Paramount Pictures on January 15, 2027.
