FINIDI EXCITED OVER EAGLES

Interim Super Eagles coach, Finidi George, said that he is happy with the team’s spirit, stating that Eagles will make Nigerians proud as they battle with the Black stars of Ghana and Mali ahead of the 2024 African Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Nigeria will take on Ghana in the first of the two friendlies on Friday at the Grand Stade de Marrakech before taking on Mali four days later.

After Tuesday’s training with some of the players, George stated that the team spirit is good and he was pleased with their performances.

In the video shared on the Super Eagles X handle on Wednesday, the coach said he is expecting some players to join them soon.

He said, “We are still waiting for some players, but the players that are here now are doing a good job, good training.

“Is not that intense because some of them are coming just travelling back or getting here, but it has been a good feeling. The team’s spirit is good, so I am happy about that.

“Definitely, as a coach, there’s a responsibility, but that is what we do. We have to be calm and do our job to make sure you do it properly.

“You know a lot of Nigerians are watching so we want to make them proud AFCON is gone, these are two games that are very very crucial to Nigeria so we will take it seriously and make sure we get the best out of these games.”

Two players, Bright Osayi-Samuel and Kenneth Omeruo, joined the rest of their teammates in the early hours of Wednesday.
