The statement debunked claims that Akinyefa was forced to resign, instead attributing his departure to “inefficiency, pride, and an inability to align with the company’s professional standards.”
According to the management, Akinyefa’s resignation was voluntary and stemmed from a change in his designation from General Manager to Head of Station.
This change was reportedly made after Akinyefa “failed woefully in the discharge of his duties.”
The statement emphasized that Ilaji FM operates within a larger conglomerate that values professionalism, discipline, and adherence to corporate ethics.
The management stressed that Akinyefa’s exit was a result of his own actions, stating that “his flagrant disregard for constituted authority, self-destructive pride, and inflated ego had no place in our well-structured establishment.”
“He simply realized that his flagrant disregard for constituted authority, self-destructive pride, and inflated ego had no place in our well-structured establishment,” the statement read.
The organization maintained that the change in his designation was intended for his professional development, but his inability to meet expectations led to his exit.
“At Ilaji, every position carries responsibilities and obligations, and anything short of that is unacceptable,” the statement added.
The organization urged the public to disregard any contrary narratives regarding Akinyefa’s departure, reiterating its commitment to professional ethics, discipline, teamwork, and accountability.
The development comes after four other staff members, including presenters, administrators, and marketers, also resigned from the organization, citing internal conflicts and overbearing from the consultant handling the radio station’s operations.
