IYABO ‘OKO’ IS DEAD

Veteran Nollywood actress, Sidikat Odunkanwi professionally known as Iyabo Oko, has reportedly passed on, according to BBC Yoruba News.

Her daughter, Bisi Aishat, also announced on Instagram, saying it is well with your soul, mummy, RIP. The actress reportedly died Wednesday evening.

It will be recalled that, it was also announced by same daughter, Bisi Aisha that she passed away January 2022.

“My mum is gone. Rest well mummy. May your soul Rest In Peace mummy,” she wrote in 2022. The death was also announced by actress Foluke Daramola-Salako last year.

However, Bisi Aisha and Foluke Daramola both retracted the report the next day, saying Iyabo Oko is alive.

“Wonderful being, she moved her hand after being confirmed dead three hours ago. God, we will forever praise your holy name,” Aisha stated.

Foluke Daramola-Salako, on her part, said: “Just heard from her daughter again that she moved her hand and she is still alive. Hallelujah! She is alive.

“It was her same daughter that announced her death before and she was the one that says is alive now.”

The actress also confirmed that Iyabo was receiving treatment at the hospital.

She said: “Yes she is already in the hospital as we speak. Thank you everyone we still need your prayers please.”

The new twist of event, her daughter, Bisi Aisha, announced on Instagram today, saying that the actress died Wednesday evening.

Before her demise, the 61-year-old actress battled with ill-health which caused her to take a long break from the movie scene

She was born on the 15th of November 1960 in Iwo Local Government Area of Osun State. Sidikat had stage names such as “Iyabo Oko” “Apoti Aje”.

Last year, one of her daughters, Olamide, disclosed that her mother was diagnosed with stroke about five years ago but kept her health issues away from the public. Yoruba Nollywood stars including Foluke Daramola, Iyabo Ojo, Bolaji Amusan, Mercy Aigbe and Biodun Okeowo, others assisted financially in the past.
