JIBRIN AS A NEW BREATH TO VON

Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace the current Director General/Chief Executive Officer of Voice of Nigeria (VON) has a remarkable career as an award-winning journalist, former Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Niger State, and a wealth of experience in public relations and media consultancy.

Ndace’s leadership has brought a fresh perspective to VON and address critical issues, including countering violent extremism and hate speech in the digital age.

Born on August 17, 1974, the 2002 graduate in English from Bayero University, Kano, has charted an exceptional journey through the realms of journalism, international diplomacy, and peace advocacy.

He is an award-winning journalist, recognized for his contributions to the field.

Prior to his current role, he held the position of Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Niger state.

His career spans over a decade and encompasses both journalism and public relations.

Mallam Ndace has made a name for himself as a Public Affairs commentator, Media Consultant, Youth Vanguard, and Peace Advocate.

He is actively involved in countering violent extremism and hate speech within the social media space, earning him recognition as a global change agent.

He commenced his journalism career with The Market Magazine, a Business, Policy, and Economy Magazine, which made its debut in 2004.

During his time at The Market Magazine, he also served as the Personal Assistant to the publisher and Managing Director of Bifocal Communications Limited.

His experience in these roles exposed him to various public relations-related activities, including event management, crisis management, reputation management, branding, media relations, and corporate social responsibilities.

Mallam Ndace is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), African Public Relations Association (APRA), and Defence Correspondents Association.

He is a familiar face on both radio and television programs, particularly when discussing issues related to defense and security.

Mallam Ndace is known for his contributions on programs like ‘TUESDAY LIVE’ on NTA and ‘Journalists Round Table (JRT)’ on Aso Radio, where he addresses national and international matters, including foreign relations, politics, economics, security, and social issues.

His insightful contributions have earned him the nickname “The Voice of the People” and garnered commendation from government officials and the public.

He holds the position of General Manager, Special Projects (GM SP) at the Blueprint Newspaper.

His role at the Blueprint Newspaper provided him with extensive experience as a combat journalist, including being embedded in conflict zones, particularly in the North-eastern region of Nigeria where Boko Haram insurgents had affected the local population for over five years.

Mallam Ndace’s extensive international exposure includes attending media events and workshops in various countries, such as Ghana, Kenya, Togo, Benin, Ethiopia, UAE, Mauritius, Indonesia, Turkey, the UK, India, and Kosovo.

He was the only African journalist invited to cover the historic inauguration of President Joko Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla of Indonesia in October 2014.

Mallam Ndace is the author of a trilogy on Nigeria’s counter-insurgency operations, including books titled “Walking the War Front with Lt. Gen. TY Buratai,” “Duty Call Under Buratai’s Command,” and “The Lonely Grave,” a collection of poems.
