NETFLIX MEETS NBC ON CONTENTS

The Netflix team led by the Director, Public Policy, Miss Shola Sani was at the National Broadcasting Commission’s headquarters on Wednesday, 6th March 2024, to discuss potential Collaborations with the NBC, particularly in the area of promotion, and publicity of local content on an international scale.

The visit was aimed at creating awareness to the public about the Netflix’s mode of operation, also to request involvement in policy making and legislation regarding the regulation of social media and the broadcast media airspace.

While welcoming the team, the Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, Mr Charles Ebuebu stated, that the visit marked an important milestone for the Commission in collaboration and engagement with Netflix.

He commended the team for their dedication to promoting Nigerian cultural creativity which has not only showcased the richness of the nation’s culture but has also played a significant role in fostering international recognition for Nigerian talent.

He further noted, that the Commission is ready to explore avenues for partnership and collaboration that will further elevate our creative industry and provide greater opportunities for talented filmmakers and content creators.

The visit which marked the beginning of potential collaborations between both parties,  would help promote  content on a global scale, provide job creation within the local creative industry, and foster a conducive regulatory environment for digital platforms.
