NIGERIA’S WORLD CUP DREAM ALIVE

Nigeria’s quest for a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup remains alive following a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Lesotho on Friday. However, the Super Eagles still face a tough path to automatic qualification.

Despite the win, Nigeria sit third in Group C with 14 points, trailing South Africa, who are second with 15 points, and Benin Republic, who top the group with 17 points.

The battle for qualification will now go down to the wire in the final round of matches.

To keep their World Cup hopes alive, the Super Eagles must defeat Benin Republic by at least two goals when both sides clash in their final group encounter today. Benin currently hold a superior goal difference of +5, while Nigeria and South Africa both have +3.
