OSIMHEN FEATURES IN NAPOLI’S SQUAD

Despite ongoing speculation about his future, Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has been included in Napoli’s pre-season squad ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Osimhen is expected to link up with the rest of the squad as preparations begin between July 14 and 15.

The 26-year-old recently returned from a loan spell at Turkish giants Galatasaray, where he enjoyed an outstanding season, netting 37 goals in 41 appearances and helping the club to a domestic double.

Osimhen reportedly turned down a lucrative €30 million-a-year offer from Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal earlier this month, as revealed by Football Italia. While the Saudi Pro League side remain keen, they are yet to secure a deal, and Napoli may formally summon the forward to commence pre-season if no agreement is reached by mid-July.

Napoli’s pre-season schedule includes medical tests between July 14 and 15, followed by a training camp in Dimaro, Trentino Alto Adige from July 17 to 27. After a brief break, preparations will resume in Castel di Sangro, Abruzzo, from July 30 to August 14.

Although Osimhen is expected to undergo medical tests with his teammates, it remains uncertain whether he will train fully with the squad or on an individual programme.

The Super Eagles star’s current contract with Napoli runs until June 2026, with an option to extend by an additional year. It includes a €75 million release clause, which is not applicable to Serie A clubs.
