RAPE: DEEPER LIFE DISOWNS PASTOR

The leadership of Deeper Life Church has distanced itself from the claim of a 60-year-old man, Obatayo Adetunji, accused of having carnal knowledge of a 14-year-old girl.

The suspect had claimed to be a pastor in the church.

While disclosing that the suspect was not affiliated with the Deeper Life Ministry as a pastor, the church, in a statement issued by Oka Regional Overseer, Pastor Oludu David, condemned alleged rumour circulating on social media that Adetunji was a pastor in the region.

According to the church, Adetunji is neither a pastor nor a worker at Deeper Life Bible Church in Oka Region, adding that he is not a regular member of Deeper Life Bible Church in Oka Akoko but only sought financial assistance from the church in 2023.

The church urged the public to disregard the affiliation of the purported pastor.

Following the development, the suspect was arrested by the men of the state police command after the victim informed her parents about the sexual relationship with the accused person.

He was later charged to court on three counts bordering on defilement and unlawfully prescribing drugs to procure an abortion for the victim.
