SEEK GUIDANCE, RMD TELLS BASKETMOUTH

Veteran Nollywood actor, Richard Mofe-Damijo, better addressed as RMD, has offered some advice to popular Nigerian comedian, Bright Okpocha, famously known as Basketmouth, who is diversifying into filmmaking with his debut project “A Ghetto Love Story” set for release on November 22.

In a video shared on Instagram, the 63-year-old veteran congratulated the comedian on his new venture but encouraged him to seek guidance from established Nollywood figures like Funke Akindele, Mo Abudu, Ayo ‘AY’ Makun, and Kunle Afolayan.

RMD said leveraging the expertise of those already established in the industry was key.

“You are entering a place where people have already established. Hold ground. This is not comedy. Do not do it anyhow. This is film,” the actor advised.

Funke Akindele has achieved massive success with projects like ‘Omo Ghetto: The Saga’ while Mo Abudu is the media mogul behind EbonyLife Films.

RMD also mentioned AY, a fellow comedian who transitioned into Nollywood with films like ‘30 Days in Atlanta’, ‘A Trip To Jamaica’, and ‘Merry Men’, amongst others

“When you enter, go find people wey hold ground. People wey dey control the whole area. All of them like Funke Akindele, Mo Abudu, AY, Kunle Afolayan and other people wey dey do film well. Wey be oga. Call them. Tell them you want to know one or two things. Comedy with Buchi fit work, but that na after you don pay respect to people wey hold ground,” RMD added.
